PhatMac Help - Preference Dialogue (Speech Preferences)
The Speech tab of the Preferences Dialogue is used to configure the Speech properties used for the SSA Interface.

Generate Speech must be selected to have PhatMac generate and support speech files. With this option de-selected, PhatMac will not generate speech files, nor will it modify the AudioID.3 lists. The Configure Announcement window will not be available without speech generation active.
Select a voice (from any of the system voices) to be used while generating the speech files for the Playlists, Artists, Albums, Genres and (if enabled) Tracks. Select Default Voice to use the default voice that is selected in the Speech panel of System Preferences.
Use the Speed, Pitch, and Volume sliders to modify the attributes of the selected voice. The Play button is available to hear what the voice sounds like. Not all attributes will affect all voices, and the volume slider will only affect the voice on the PhatBox (not when you use the Play button).
The >< buttons will reset each slider to the center (default) position.
Click Clear All Speech Files to remove all of the speech files from the DMS. This is useful if you have selected a new voice and wish to have all the speech re-generated. It will be necessary to Save All to have all the speech files re-generated.
The library will need to be saved to the DMS Cartridge after changing Speech Preferences.
Click Cancel to close the Preferences window without saving the settings, or Accept to close the window and save all settings.
