PhatMac Help - Preference Dialogue (Sorting Preferences)

The Sorting tab of the Preferences Dialogue is used to configure the way in which the various Artists, Albums and Genres will be sorted. This affects how these lists can be browsed.

Separate sort options can be defined for Albums, Artists and Genres; use the button to select the type.

The top part of this window allows you to set incomplete words (and symbols) that will be ignored while sorting the list. These are incomplete words which appear at the start of an Album, Artist or Genre name. For example: the album !Happy! will be sorted under H, because the ! symbol appears in the list.

The lower part of this window allows you to set complete words that will be ignored while sorting the list. These are complete words which appear at the start of an Album, Artist or Genre name. For example: the artist The Beatles will be sorted under B, because The appears in the list.

To remove items from a list:

Albums are usually sorted alphabetically, grouped by artist. To have the albums sorted purely alphabetically (disregarding the artist), select Pure Alphabetical Sort. This option is only visible while modifying the sort options for Albums.

Tracks for each Genre can be grouped together by album or by artist. Select Group Tracks By Albums or Group Tracks By Artists accordingly. This option is only visible while modifying the sort options for Genres.

Click Cancel to close the Preferences window without saving the settings, or Accept to close the window and save all settings.
